Older Work, Experiments, and Juvenilia
The peripheral works in this section sit outside Xie's core practice and are not representative of her current craft. They are shown for context, vary in approach and finish, and are not presently offered for exhibition or press; please refer to the principal works instead. Information here is archival, and because platforms and browsers change, functionality may vary.

Harlequin
2014
An interactive art installation in which participants navigate databases of corporeal images using body movement as an interface. Participants stand in front of a Kinect, which senses body postures in real-time. As participants move, they are presented with a collage-like flickering display of diverse body images that mimic their poses in a visceral exploration of body language as a cultural construct in visual culture.
The project's prototype was conceived in a 24 hour hackathon, MIT Hacking Arts. It won the "Most Creative Hack" category and went on to show at ILLUMINUS Boston 2014 as part of In Divine Company's Sculpted Guardian Illumined performance.
